The Society for Abandoned Animals is heavily dependent on the generous support of the Public, members and friends and supporters of the society to raise the necessary funds to allow us to carry on our work, caring for and rehoming unwanted cats, dogs and rabbits. The need to raise funds is now more vital than ever with Sanctuary running costs in the region of £167900 per annum or £460 per day.
SAA EVENTS are an established method of raising funds for the Sanctuary and include Fun Family days such as the Spring Fair, All Trophy Dog Show and Christmas Fair. Other events include our Pet Remembrance Evening traditionally held in the autumn and also the popular SAA Rabbit Care Day with free rabbit health checks and advice here on site. We also hold an annual sponsored dog walk starting from the sanctuary to the edge of Sale Water Park and the surrounding countryside finishing back at the SAA for much needed refreshment! Second Hand Bargain Sales are a regular feature of the fundraising calendar and make use of the large quantities of donated goods we receive, as does the new on site charity shop pened in August 2009. With the help of our dedicated volunteers we hold Street collections in several town centre’s across the region raising awareness and vital funds.
Volunteers are always needed to prepare for and run events so if you feel you can give a little of your time to help out please either follow the links, call into the office or give us a ring, we would love to hear from you!
DONATIONS are a major source of income for the society and one for which we are always extremely grateful. Donations can be made in person, by post and regular donations can be made by standing order. Complete a gift aid declaration and make your money go further. Follow the links to donate on line and for further info on Gift Aiding your donation. We are always extremely grateful for any donations made, great or small and we can ensure donors the funds raised will be put very good use in the care of our cats, dogs and rabbits here at the Sanctuary. When funds are donated in the form of a Legacy or bequest we are always especially thankful to the individuals for acknowledging the work we do here at the SAA and for providing for lasting care for our animals. This is also the case when we are remembered by the friends and families who make a donation to the SAA in memory of their loved ones who are sadly no longer with us.
Many of our dedicated supporters take part in events such as the Greater Manchester Run and other sponsored events to raise funds for the SAA. Other perhaps slightly more daring individuals, have the experience of a lifetime undertaking parachute jumps with Skyline Promotions and donating funds raised to the SAA.
Another useful method of raising funds is by volunteers or staff attending local events such as the Altrincham Festival or Croft Carnival and running an SAA stall on our behalf. This has the double benefit of raising our profile in the local community and of raising much needed funds.
We are very fortunate to have the support of several local businesses. Some who work with us promote the SAA on their premises or in their literature. Many also hold regular food collections on our behalf, display a collection tin and promotional material and frequently donate goods we can either use here at the sanctuary or sell at events to raise essential funds. Others donate much needed funds either directly or funds raised by their staff; some release staff to take part in employee volunteering days where they get involved with site maintenance , painting on site or gardening for example. We are very grateful for their continued support.
