Last Sunday we held our annual fun Dog Show at our rescue which saw over 60 dogs take part in our classes for a chance to win trophies and doggy goodies! We raised £2035 for our animals, which will help us to feed not just our dogs, but our cats and rabbits too.
With classes including most Handsome Hunk, Loveliest Lady, Golden Oldie, Waggiest Tail and Best Rescue, we saw all sorts of lovely poochies in the ring. The dogs got a chance to show off their catching skills in Catch the Sausages, where entrants were lined up and thrown sausages to catch at ever increasing distance, which was won by Toby the Labradoodle.
The overall winner of the day was Staffordshire bull terrier Blue, who lives with Ben one of the SAA volunteers. Blue won most Handsome Hunk and Best in Show, demonstrating how wonderful staffie dogs can be.
Our special guest judges were Ampika Pickston and Lauren Simon from the Real Housewives of Cheshire. Another member of the cast, Magali Gorre, came along too with her dog Lulu to enter our Loveliest Lady class!
We were also delighted to have Flo and Jo from Serendipitea stitch club and French Knots Craft studio and the lovely Rebekah from The Doggy House doggy daycare, all judging the show too.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along on the day, everyone who volunteered their time, donated prizes, food and drinks, promoted the show and helped out on the day. Special thanks go out to Ampika and Lauren, Jo, Flo and Rebekah, Betty and Butch pet shop, Blue Raj Indian Restaurant, Sue Westwood-Ruttledge, Jordan Estill photography, Elliot Forde, Sox Felt so Good, Jollyes Pet Superstore Fallowfield, Ben and Kate McCloskey, Tesco stores in Sale and Baguley, everyone who donated items for the tombolas, and of course the amazing SAA volunteers.
