What's my story?
***Special girl looking for a very special home***
PLEASE READ IN FULL BEFORE APPLYING
Name: Mush
Age: 4 years old
Arrived at SAA: March 2025
About me: Lovely little 4 year old Mush is looking for her forever home. She has limited vision so needs a special home who will cater for her needs. The vets suspect she has a condition called Progressive Retinal Atrophy. She is almost fully blind now and will continue to lose her sight until she is completely blind. Currently the vets think she can still see shapes and shadows during daylight but has no vision at all when it is dark. She will need a very quiet and calm home who will always make Mush’s needs a priority. She will need the layout of the home to be consistent as moving things around will mean she may struggle to find them again. She will ‘map out’ her surroundings all her other senses will be heightened to compensate for her sight loss. Her new owner will need to be very conscious of any potential dangers to her such as things higher up she could fall off, things that may cause harm if she bumps into them such as sharp edges may need padding added, no unsupervised access to stairs, not being able to jump up onto the oven etc. Once her sight is fully gone she will also need to not be directly exposed to bright sunlight as her pupils wont constrict to protect the back of her eyes, so when it is summer it may be necessary to have the binds partially down or thick curtains etc. She tries her best to use her litter tray but may have some accidents especially next to it.
Mush is a very sweet girl who loves a gentle fuss once she knows you are there. She will be a lovely companion for the right person. We are happy to discuss Mush and her housing requirements further with anyone who thinks they can offer Mush a suitable home and meet her needs.
