Hundreds of bunny lovers hopped along to the Society for Abandoned Animals for a free information day on health care for their pet.

Advice at the Stretford shelter included tips on grooming, clipping and cleaning. Rabbits were vaccinated against myxomatosis, which can cause skin tumours and blindness in rabbits, and VHD, a highly contagious disease affecting the animals, which can cause sudden death.

A spokesman for the society thanked the Animal Medical Referrals Centre for supplying the vaccinations, the 50 volunteers who helped run the event and everyone who turned up.
